Text Link Ads

by Nick.

After seeing some pretty non-obtrusive ads showing up on some of my fav blogs I thought I would try signing up for Text Link Ads and see how it works out.

The first thing that I liked about the sign up process is that it does not require your banking information. I have to really trust a site before I enter any really personal information like Social Security, and Bank Account information. So that is one of the things that put me off these ad sites before.

Webhost Crashed

by Nick.

Well it would seem that the hard drive crashed on the server hosting this site the other day, and the most recent backup the web host had was a month old. I guess I can not get too angry seeing as I do not have any backups either. :)

Only a couple of posts were lost, so hopefully I can find draft copies I made before posting and at least get a few of them back up.

Luckily Drupal allows you to mark posts with any authored on dates you like, so I can pre-date the posts so they more closely match the original post date.

Drupal 4.7 Overview and Review

by Nick.

As is customary here at cmx.net with every major overhaul I start with a quick overview and review of the CMS I am using to run the site. Actually cmx.net skipped version 4.6 and went straight to 4.7 so there are a few things that I consider new and cool that are actually from the previous release. In any case it will not hurt to go over some of the main features of the new releases from 4.5.

Unfortunately some of the changes to the site are so fundamental that I have decided to start fresh with 4.7.3. This means that all the previous content is gone (which is no real big loss), but I also lost the user accounts which I am more annoyed about. I apologize to the users that already had accounts created, and hope that you will consider signing up again, and posting comments.
