Just got back from watching Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, despite all the negative reviews, and I am actually glad I did. Sometimes I think movie critics take things too seriously. I have read many review complaining about the storyline, the racist robots, etc etc, and I think they are full of it.
Transformers is a typical Micheal Bay big budget summer movie, that’s it. In that light it is a good movie, lots of action, lots of Megan Fox running and lots of explosions. The storyline is just there to facilitate all the shiny stuff going on.
If these movie “critics” are going into a Transformers movie looking for a thought provoking story, and deep characters then they know nothing about movies… period. Oh right and racist robots… sorry that’s just to stupid to comment on. Ok maybe one comment, maybe the reviewers are racist because they obviously have some stereotypes in their mind then they see two slapstick robots.
Anyway, if you liked Transformers 1 you will enjoy this one. It’s a good distraction for a couple of hours. It could have been thirty minutes shorter and been a little better. But besides that a fun time.
For a while now I have been using iTunes as my main music player and the iTunes music store as my exclusive online music store, however I have come to the end of the line. There has not been one single thing that has caused me to give up on iTunes and Apple, but a combination of lots of things that when put together make iTunes not such a hot product.
Last week I decided to go and see the new independent movie, Sunshine. It is directed by Danny Boyle the director of 28 Days Later and Trainspotting.
The basic story is pretty simple, it’s 50 years in our future and our Sun is dieing. The earth has become a frozen wasteland and eventually all of humanity will die out. So humanity launches a mission to re-ignite the sun using a huge atomic bomb. If this were the end of the story the movie would not be very original at all. But just like Danny Boyle’s other movies this movies story is driven mostly by the human characters and their interactions.
While browsing the web I just stumbled upon a new movie being released next week called Sunshine. At first I did not pay much attention to it, but then I noticed that it is directed by Danny Boyle who did 28 Days Later. I just watched 28 Days Later again last night and it really is a well done independent film.
Sunshine is set in space, which is always a plus for me, and has well rounded cast of not “super stars” but good actors. The basic story is standard sci-fi, they are on a mission to save mankind and something goes wrong in deep space, but some of the sub-plots look good.
This looks like it could be a cool movie and it nearly slipped under my radar, so I thought I would make sure you guys know about it too.
Not much has been happening around here for the past week or so, I have been spending most of my computer time trying to decide what components I want in my new system. So I thought I would share some of the movies I have seen, and music I am listening too.
I first found Ratatat when I was looking for music under the XL Music label. When I was younger living in England XL alway had the cool cutting edge groups and music. Most notable The Prodigy and the then new Rave and Jungle music.
Ratatat is not Rave or Jungle, but they are very good. Their sound is kind of a mix between alternative rock and electronic music. There are no vocals which make it perfect for listening to while working.
This is the first album I have bought in a long time that is original, and good. Just a good disc and I would recommend it to anyone. Because it is a mix between rock and electronic I think that the overall sound can appeal to a diverse audience.
